Electro-Optic and Ferroelectric Nanophotonics

Martin Thomaschewski

Bridging material science and nanophotonics to develop scalable, energy-efficient electro-optic platforms for information and communication photonics.

About me

As a researcher in the field of optoelectronics and nanophotonics, my primary focus lies on investigating strong light-matter interactions in nonlinear materials for advanced optoelectronic integrated circuits. In my current position as postdoctoral researcher at the California Institute of Technology, USA, I am deepening my expertise in active nanophotonics across a diverse range of electro-optic material platforms, including barium titanate and lithium niobate, while exploring nanophotonic-enhanced sensing applications.

As an early-stage researcher, I published 23 peer-reviewed papers (8 as first author), including prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Science Advances and Nano Letters, with the most recent publication in ACS Photonics as part of the "Rising Stars in Photonics" special issue. My h-index is 15 and my citations are growing rapidly, with 900 citations to date (Google Scholar). Ten of my publications are in journals with IF > 9. I co-supervised 6 Ph.D. students, resulting in the publication of 4 research articles. As an active peer-reviewer, I have completed ~50 peer reviews to date and serve as an Editor for the Journal Crystals (IF 2.4).
